Tighnabruaich has been very popular with Drascombe
boat owners who are the icon of trailer sailors! No
matter what the wind and direction there is a close
at hand anchorage and sailing area which will be protected.
Temporary and permanent moorings are available for
up to 15 tons. Tom can arrange day sailing excursions
as well as RYA courses with Charter
For You. For charts look at IMRAY
Chart "63" or Admiralty chart "Kyles of Bute"
Sailing Directions Clyde Cruising Club publication
"The Firth of Clyde" or IMRAY "Clyde to Colonsay".
Dinghies can be launched from several places along
the shore and can sail in relative safety in the lee
of the Isle of Bute, or take a day cruise to Rothesay
or round Inchmarnock.
Trailer sailing is really easy in the Kyles: there
are 2 slipways and one of them is free! The other
is at the Maramarine Boat yard towards the east of
Tighnabruaich village - it has a crane and hoist should
you need it.
Visitors' moorings are available for cruisers in
front of some of the hotels and the waters of the
Firth of Clyde are a legendary sailing location. The
An Lochan has a pontoon suitable for tenders and small
craft.

The Kyles of Bute Sailing Club operates a full racing calendar
throughout the summer and visitors are welcome to
take part.
